Okay so I was at the local lumber yard today and I love looking around there electrical department to see how much they are ripping people off haha. Like for instance a 250' coil of 14/2 romex you can buy at Granite City Electrical for $45 and change and a coil at the lumber yard is selling for, any guesses any guesses? $99.95 Oh yeah they deff know how to make a dollar out of 15 cents haha. But that is not the reason for this post. I was confused when I was looking at the extension cords there. They had some heavy duty 12 awg cords and they had the UL listings for amperage and it said 12awg 15 amps max? Confused I am why is it only good for 15 amps? anyone have any ideas?

You can buy romex at Granite City for $45? Are you sure they didn't have you sign your first born away first???

I saw a 250' coil of 12/2 NM at my local-yokel hardware store a few months ago that was $150 or so... Scary thing though was that it wasn't dusty either. They're actually selling it at that price. Agree with Brian though, nobody is being ripped off if they choose not to shop around.

I also agree. Sometimes I am willing to pay more for something at a convenience store rather than make an extra stop at a supermarket. I'm not being ripped off, I'm paying for the convenience.

However, 12-2 @ $150 a roll better be REALLY convenient...

Isn't that the installed price? I mean that is pretty convenient, isn't it?:D
