Good evening. I am looking at a job where the available voltage is 120/208 wye. According to the manufacturer of the equipment we are installing we need 120/240V single phase. My question is can I use a buck boost xfmr (no derived neutral) and use the 208V (primary) to get the 240V and just feed the neutral through? Thanks for any input.

No, you can't "unbend" the 120 degrees into 180 degrees that way. Since you need 120/240v with a neutral, you should use a 1ph 208-to-120/240v transformer, and bond the derived neutral.

I freely admit that I’m not a transformer guy. That makes sense though. Thank you for putting it that way.
