Have a possible job that i need to add a 3 phase panel to a existing 120/240 high-leg service. Existing equipment is Cutler Hammer, so I would like to stay with that. However, my supplier only has 120/240 slash rated breaker, and I would like to utilize the high leg in some of my 2 pole applications. The supply house salesmen spoke with Eaton tech support and was informed that a straight 240 rated breaker is not available for a ch load-center, could this be correct? Does that rule out using a 3 phase ch load-center in a high-leg application

Do you know the transformer configuration supplying the service? In my area most Delta services are Open Delta and the "B" phase transformer is substantially smaller than the other transformer. The utility is generally expecting a smaller load on the "B" phase.

I have no idea of the availability of 240V rated 2-pole CH breakers but it definetly doesn't mean CH load centers can't be used on Delta systems. I seldom see 2-pole breakers on Delta systems and none of my suppliers stock 240V 2-pole breakers from any manufacture. You can either use a 3-pole breaker that is 240V rated or not use the high leg for 240V single phase loads.

From this Catalog, Pg 40, the only 2P 240V straight rated breakers are 20 or 30A. Rated as HID or HACR, for all other sizes you would need to use a 3P.

part # CH220HID, CH230HID
