120/240 STOVE on 120/208

Has anyone ran into residential stoves (240 volt) not able to work at all on 208? Most I have seen is that some might not get as hot (have less wattage) but they would still work on the circuit. I thought most are dual rate since mose dwellings are 240 or in apartments 208. It should be easier to make them universal. Its only in dryers that I had to order a special conversion kit to use some of them on a 208 circuit.

I have not. I imagine a line-to-line unit w/o neutral could be that voltage sensitive, but unlikely.

Is this happening, or are you in the design phase?

To convert them would require replacing all the heating elements. I don't know anyone who makes 208 volt stove elements.

I've seen a fair number installed on 208v systems and not seen one "not work" but they are getting more sophisticated and may care :)

The manufacturer would be the one to tell you for sure whether 208v is okay, or whether 208v elements are needed or available.

If you can find the wiring diagram, you can see if only the elements are wired line-to-line, which gives you 75% heating power.
