I have a good one. Found a Hot Tub install where a the feeder was only a #6 -2 cable servicing a 120/240v Hot Tub. The ground was tapped white and they added a ground rod at the Tub and connected it to the ground bar.
Whew , what idiots will do.

I haven't wired a hot tub in years. Do they always require a neutral?
No they don’t. I have multiple where there’s only L1,L2 and egc connection in the control panel. However, you still need proper 3 wire to the gfi disconnect to proper power the gfi circuit. One way around that is if you’re using the breaker at your panel as the disconnect for the hot tub. Then only 2 hot conductors and ground are needed from breaker to tub as in the picture provided. You could even run that gfi circuit to an ac style disconnect near your tub if the panel isn’t close. BUT, if your tub needs a neutral, you can’t do as shown in the picture.
