No. Bare or green - no exceptions to that size wire.

Thank you! I used bare and AHJ wants green only. NEC rules indicate that #8 solid is legal. do you agree!

The wire needs to be #8 green solid or stranded the key is it needs to be insulated and a listed potting compound must be used.

Are we really talking about a Dry-Niche Luminiare as your subject indicates? They don?t have forming shells or deck boxes so there is no place to install a bonding jumper.
