I'm working on installing 125 Amp service in my Pole Barn (new construction). Consumers Energy will provide everything to the meter. On the form, they ask about the electric service load side connector. Options are:

- Single, Parallel, or Other
- Aluminum or Copper
- Conductor size from panel to meter socket

From the meter to panel will be about 3 feet at most. I'm struggling to find which wire I should actually purchase for this run. I know the temperature rating is part of it and most of what I found is rated for 90*C. The easiest place to buy wire is Menards, Lowes, or Home Depot. With those assumptions in mind for single phase 120V/240V service, what wire should I buy? Not just sizes... I'm not sure how many strands and any specific type (SEU, SER,...).

I am not an electrician, but a home owner needing help. I can wire everything out of the panel, just between the panel and the meter is my struggle.

Thank you.
