I am working on a facility with a lot of HVAC and a lot of sub panels. I properly show the 125% demand factor for the largest motor on each sub panel. Does that 125% value on each panel follow all the way to the main switchboard? Or am I only supposed to show the 125% largest motor demand factor on the overall largest motor in the facility? We are well over the service size and I'm trying to find every possible solution.

When you calculate the load on any single branch circuit panel, you count 125% of the largest motor fed from that panel. When you calculate the load on a distribution panel that feeds several downstream branch circuit panels, each of which feeds motors, you count 125% of the one largest motor fed from any of the downstream panels. When you calculate the load on the main switchboard, you count 125% of the one largest motor in the entire building. Does that make sense?
