Customer just installed a 2.2amp 115 volt motor for their pool.(smallest motor I've seen for a pool, but its a tiny pool) It is plugged into a weather proof gfci, the voltage reading I have at the gfci is 129 volts. Should this be of concern? 129 volts seem high seeing as the motor is only asking for 115 volts, even with a +/- of 10%
Will there be any damage to said motor?

Thank you

Welcome to the forum.

120v + 10% = 132v.

All other things being equal, most motors will run cooler on slightly higher voltages.

Yes, but the MOTOR rating is 115V, which +10% is only 126.5V.

Utility line voltage is supposed to be +-5%, so 120V should not be over 126V.

The utility should be called, 129V at an outlet is too high. Also, reading a high voltage at an outlet could possibly be a sign of a bad neutral connection somewhere.

Thank you for the replies guys, Ill have to go to the house and take some more readings. The service at the house did seem in pretty bad shape.
yesterday when I took readings the receptacles read 126 volts and then today 129 volts....

Yep, neutral issues will do that. I had a similar situation a few years ago at one house and it turned out to be corrosion on the meter socket neutral lug. When the utility pulled the meter it was bad everywhere, so they refused to plug the meter back in until I changed out the meter socket. Luckily this was before all the supply chain crap and I was able to pick one up that day and get the power turned back on immediately. Now, that might be an issue. If the utility will allow it, open the meter can and take a good look, then if you see anything suspicious, order a meter socket and wait for it to arrive before having the utility pull the meter.
