13800 volt conductors in GRC.

Is it common practice out in industry to run 13800 volt conductors in surface mounted schedule 80 galvanized rigid conduit? Is there a standard that requires the conduit needs to be encased in concrete?

The NEC allows RMC, IMC, EMT, PVC, cable trays, busways etc. all without encasement above ground.
