15Kv Splice in New Construction

I believe that the NEC is silent on this issue.

Cable splices, especially MV splies greatly and negatively influence teh results of your reliability calculations. Good design and installation practice dictates that there should be no splices in any cable runs.

However, the practical length of manufacturing cable lengths and shipping them may dictate the addition of splices. The complexity of runs may also dictate that you add a splice.

Cable pulling should be designed prior to pulling and cable tesnions and sidewall pressures calculated to assure that the cable pull itslef does not damage the cable. Cable manufacturers routinely provide this service and slo will locate the optimum location of the splices, if necessary.
