Anyone ever open up/take the outer shell off a 1800 amp or similar fuse before?
I had some I took out of service maybe 5-6 years ago and finally decided they not really worth much to me other than to scrap the metals, so I cut open to see whatever might be in there. As expected it was filled with sand, but I didn't necessarily expect to see several fuse links all in parallel.
I'm pretty certain the ends are tin plated copper, cut or scratch the surface and it is coper colored under the surface, the pins sticking out are ferrous, they held the outer non conductive barrel to the ends. Not certain what kind of metal the fuse links are, they are obviously soldered to the ends maybe someone here knows?
