1980 Code Inspection

Hello,

I need some help with an electrical code inspection for a house that was built in 1980. What were the grounding requirements, smoke detectors, GFCI, and did the still use aluminum wiring? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

That depends on which NEC was in effect in your state at that time,,1978 NEC or 1975 NEC both had GFCI requirements.

I will say that I am impressed that you knew to inspect it to the code it was built under and not the current code. To many HI's will try to inspect under the new code.
