2/120v in same box

can one have two 120V feeding two recept. in the same two gang box. I know 404.8 talks about snap switch and other devices being adjacent and 300V limit.

Absolutly, this can even be on one duplex receptacle if you follow the requirements of 210.4(B) or 210.7(C)

With two 120 devices, would the maximum voltage be more than 300V if they were on L1 and L2?

Mr baker, I don't think it can be more than 240V. 2x120 if on L1 and L2 and 0 if both on L1 or L2. it's a typical residential wiring. my problem with the wording of 404.8 is that it state SNAP SWITCHES adjacent to other devices..

Ace-where this rule applies is for 277V lighting circuits. A slight wording change for the 02 NEC clarified it could be any two adjacent devices, not just snap switches.
