#2 Al SER On A 90-Amp Breaker

Hello,

Will the NEC allow me to put #2AL SER on a 90-amp breaker if it is run in a crawl space and in a wall to a sub panel of a residence? I thought I read some where that I had to derate it to 80-amps.

If not in insulation #2 Al SE cable is rated for 90 amps at 75 degrees C.

If it is not ran in thermal insulation then it is good for 90A, but if ran in thermal insulation then the ampacity is 75A and a max breaker size of 80A.

Well maybe. I find that using adopted codes is more persuasive in most cases.

Using code and manufactures data will work also.
