We generally have our customers supply their own service disconnect for our equipment at their building's supply. They have the option to request a disconnect to be located on the equipment.

I have a customer requesting both. One disconnect at the equipment, and one disconnect to be located on their wall. To me, I do not see any problem with this. I actually thought this is what most customers would do anyway....Can anyone point out any problems with this? Seems pretty obvious to me.

No problem that I can see.
I would prefer that people working on the equipment standardize which disconnect was to be used for LOTO (probably the local one) just to avoid hunting when trying to figure out how to turn it on again.
I can also see why some customers who are up against the six handle rule for their service would prefer not to add another disconnect at the service.

BTW, when you say service disconnect do you mean a disconnect for servicing or the actual first disconnect and overcurrent device connecting directly to the service wiring?
If the latter, it would have to be grouped with the other service disconnects.

Since the equipment contains motor loads, I believe that at the installation it must have a line of sight disconnect. I typically provide one on the equipment upon request. If there is not a request for a disconnect I am sure to say "Customer Provided Disconnect" on the schematic.

On a normal installation there would need to be a line of sight disconnect and also the main service disconnect. Can these two ever be one and the same?
