Sooo....
Any of you old timers, err, I mean ' experienced' tradesmen, have any ideas on how to bend 2" EMT in a pinch without an actual bender? I know, I know, I am risking banishment for asking, but it's really in the interest of history, I feel the old ways can teach a valuable lesson on why we now use benders designed for the purpose. Really.

Thanks,

Truck/van bumpers have worked well in the past.....don't try it with a car nowadays though :D

Try a lull tire or something that will have some give. You will need to put many small bends. Be careful not to change the interior diameter. The end of the pipe might become damaged and will need to be cut off. Good luck.

It can be done in between the dually tires on a 18 wheeler trailer. It takes great care and usually isn't pretty.

I know this will sound like bs, but when I was a 4th year, My jw was an ox.
He could take a piece that was already bent and bend it some more or take some out by hand. By using his weight and standing on it.

2" EMT without a bender? You are looking fro trouble! Early day Hickeys were made by shaving off the side of a Plumber's Tee, shave enough so that the pipe can be moved in and out. Don't know if it will work with 2" EMT. If it was it was GRC, you could use a back hoe, or 966 bucket and chain around a tooth, nice and slow on the curl...

EMT is an ugly one, especially 2"...

Can buy factory 90s and 45s - would only use other methods mentioned in past posts for a kick or a small degree offset. Get friendly with one of the larger contractors around and either utilize his bender or pay to have some bends done up.
