2 motors on branch circuit

I recently had a discussion with a co-worker as to having a dishwasher and garbage disposal wired on the same 15 amp circuit. Though not practical,after reading Article 220, is it to our understanding that if these 2 appliances occupy less than 80% of the circuit, then this is a legal? Each appliance would also occupy less than 50% the circuit rating.

you might double check 430-53(a) [1999] also - "the full-load rating of each motor does not exceed 6 amperes." ....this will work if your garbage disposal is no larger than 1/4 HP.
