I have a 240 volt single-phase cord and plug connected motor designed to keep the water cool for a Koi pond. The circuit breaker is a 2 pole 20 amp GFCI breaker but my branch circuit consists of 2 hots and 1 equipment grounding conductor. It's in a sub-panel where grounds and neutrals are separated. Can I put the neutral pigtail to the neutral bar as you typically would do and just put my ground to the ground bar, or should the ground go to the spot on the GFCI breaker where a neutral conductor would normally go?
