Noted a 2 pole 20A gfci breaker in a pool panel. Noted individual ungrounded conductors leaving breaker headed to two different load locations. One fed the control transformer in the pool control panel; the other fed an auxiliary contact on pool panel which fed the transformer for low voltage lighting. The trip button functions. How is this so? Am I having a brain f*#t? Thanks.

First, the load wiring has nothing to do with the test trip button.

Second, if the two circuits are connected to the breaker like an MWBC, with the neutrals joined, all is well.
