I’m working on a condo building. 2 units lost power due to faulty feeders. Each unit has a separate meter. Can I run both sets of feeders using the same conduit. Conduit will be from the meter bank to the units.
With 4 current carrying conductors will you not have to derate? Is it cheaper to up size feeders or run 2 conduits?
I suspect that since two feeders failed he is thinking about replacing both - with new raceway, and is wondering if he must have two raceways or if he can use just one.I suspect that running another conduit might be a bit of a problem.
I don't think there is any prohibition on running two feeders to two separate structures in the same conduit.
I am curious why he can't use the existing conduit though.
Why? All they normally are concerned about is that no current flows that doesn't get metered. Someone is going to get billed as long as it flows through a meter. Multi-tenant meter centers - real easy to interconnect tenants if you wanted to, the tenant feeders all run through same wiring spaces within the meter center, well at least within each column or however they are arranged. Also consider that while the NEC allows this, many POCOs prohibit separately metered conductors in the same raceway.
