20 amp lighting circuit

If you have a lighting circuit loading at 20amps on a #12thhn in a conduit can you just put a 25 amp breaker on it? Ampacity chart says #12thhn is good for 25amps in comduit

Depending on what type of lighting circuit you might not even be allowed to load it 20 amps.

Lighting is almost always a continuous load, so if you have an actual load of 20 amps you need a 24 amp circuit. This is also assuming you have lighting type that can be on more than a 20 amp circuit. Plus there is also the already mentioned 240.4(D)(5)

Should have worded it better, I intentionally said 24 meaning conductor ampacity can't be less than 24, but yes 25 is next standard overcurrent device.

A 24 amp circuit is too small. :D {20*125% = 25}
