The wording, "along the conductor's entire length is no longer a part of the "parent paragraph" of 200.6. (taken out or missing since 2011 NEC)

I see it in the revised subsection, 200.6(3).

I am thinking this was a mistake, not to have that wording in the parent paragraph.

What do you think?

I think that was rewritten on purpose. It seems that 1 & 2 will obviously be continuous along the entire length because that would be the finish of the insulation itself. I guess 3 got to keep the "entire length" phrase so someone didn't just paint 3 stripes on the ends of the wire. I don't know for sure but I don't see it as an issue.

I get the question on a regular basis from contractors asking me, " where in the code does it say, along the conductor's entire length."

In the '08 and prior code cycles it was easy to point them to 200.6.
Now they cannot see how it is enforceable. Especially since in the revision the phrase has purposely been included in (3).
