In general, the exposed blades of a disconnect switch are expected to be de-energized when switch is open. Can I cross my line and load wires in a 200 amp disconnect switch? The line comes into the switch in the bottom and the load enters the top. In order to terminate in the switch, the conductors will cross. Is this a violation or is this acceptable?
True, but if 'line' and 'load' are marked, they must be adhered to.Because the "blades" of a circuit breaker are not exposed, this restriction does not usually exist with molded case switches.
That is why I said "usually" and not always.True, but if 'line' and 'load' are marked, they must be adhered to.
They can cross.
The only relevant code article I can think of is the one mentioning wire fill. 312.8 maybe?
Count us as one of those for over 400 ampere services and all transformer rated installations. Some utilities prohibit crossing line and load if this is before the meter.
