our service at the pole caught fire and burned shooting flames out of the box. there was a 200 amp main that fed the house 150' away what would cause it to flame up like that a new service is in now and with everything running there is 87 amps on a and b phase and 9 amps on the neutral

So there was a fire on a pole and later sparks came out of a box 150' away?

If I understand this correctly I think the most likely cause was the insulation melted off a live conductor at the pole and that live conductor touched the grounded conductor heading too that box that sparked. That placed a large current on the grounded conductor and one of the terminations related to it could not handle the current.
