200 hp vfd dimensions

Historically a class 8930 item, is a 'custom built' product. There are no standard drawings.

I did not know they were still using that in their part numbers.
 
He's right, "Class 8930" was (is?) just a catch-all product code for something that was custom built to a customer's specification, usually volume purchases for OEMs. It could very well be that because of this, they must get permission from the OEM who originally bought it to be able to release ANY information on it, including simple things like dimensions. When I worked there, that was the policy. The customer owned the IP on the product even though the factory built it and it had a Sq. D nameplate on it.

If it's not too old, you may be able to just look at the factory standard enclosure for the drive inside of this, i.e. if it's an ATV71 or ATV61, just look up an enclosed version with or without any major accessories such as a breaker or disconnect, line reactors etc. as your case may be. A lot of times they used the standard enclosure package if they could and the customization was more about smaller control accessories and pre-programming on things like drives.

Actually drives were one of the items most likely to have a customer enclosure, especially if the line and load reactors had to be 'in the box with the drive', reduced height and increased width were also fairly common, or if they were doing something special like making an 18 pulse drive with phase shifting transformers and multiple input sections. Hard to tell for sure.

Oh yeah good points, I hadn't thought about the 18 pulse possibility and usually the "standard" enclosure will have room for a line OR load reactor, but not both.

So never mind about looking up a standard drive, it's actually more likely that if they COULD have used one, they would have. That means there's no telling what this one is.

Can't go with another brand huh? I know our AB and ABB reps would love to send us dimensions if we bought a drive from them....
 
Two requirements. Delivery date. Then price. Price was good as was delivery until we got hung up on what are the dimensions. I don't know what to build or how. Now customer says maybe he will take Vfd with him when land lease is done. Whole thing may end up on wheels. They want water in 3-4 weeks. Fun.
 
Seriously, your A-B distributor could not get you a NEMA 3R enclosed 200HP drive in a couple of weeks? A-B has what are called Local Solution Centers all around the country that are in essence, internal VFD panel shops just for this purpose. I know the Denver LSC has a standardized NEMA 3R vented drive package system because they get a lot of sales for them in that area, and any distributor from around the country can request having one built there to meet fast delivery requirements. Most likely your local A-B distributor did not ask, or his VFD specialist is unaware of the thing Denver has going on. We have used them on numerous occasions, it's a nice package.

Price wise though, Sq. D can be dirt cheap, but you get what you pay for...

Exactly where I am at. AB & ABB are 6-8 weeks out. Yaskawa enclosure etc is huge. 1400 lb. SQD is reasonably priced as noted and 3-4 weeks off. Couple others are way out of line and no decisions made by anyone.
