Yes.
Yes.
IMO, yes.

My only complaint is that it doesn't have the lines in the margins indicating code changes.

Yes. Yes. Worth every penny. Great illustrations and explanations. I'll probably get the CD as well.

thanks, I'm online right now about to get it.
I am studying right now for my journeyman and I learn a lot better with pictures.

Handbooks are great. I love the explanations & pictures, but I can look things up ten times faster in a code book. The extra "stuff" in my handbook really slows me down.

I have a '99 handbook & a '05 code book. When I was studying for my test, I read the handbook cover to cover. It was great. Afterwards, I used my code book, because I could look things up much faster. BTW, the California test is so ambiguos that the different code cycles didn't matter.

This forum also helped me with issues that baffled me.

Good luck!

Yes. Yes. Worth every penny. Great pictures and explanations. Agree with Infinity; would have liked changes from the 2002 NEC indicated in the margins.

Have to agree with Infinity and Muhandas, I like having it around, and it would be extremely helpful if they had included the margin change bar. I have lost all my inhibitions about marking them up & highlighting & tabbing them! I will say, though, that there are a few in the office that would rather use the looseleaf codebook.

I think it's a great book, especially for expanded explanatory material. If it helps you in your pursuit of a J license, it will be cheap, it's good commentary, and makes good for reference, don't forget though only NEC is code. Think of it as part of the reason you get a raise as a great study guide after you pass your test too.

In Michigan, you can't use it to take the test. I took my test a few months ago and seen a guy being told he couldn't bring it in with him. State to state may vary though.

Yep not likely to be allowed,so might actually hurt you.Get all the rules of what is allowed first.Tip i was given by a doctor was to not drink coffee more than i cup if you must.Eat as many hershey bars as you can stand and take plenty of vitamins. At 7AM you will be up and ready and have plenty of pencils and huge calculator and big clock.Plenty looked at my 3 inch self made tabs and extra code book with pages missing. It had only 2 things in the second book.Grounding and tables.Never hand in paper till last minute is up.Passing might end up over just over one last minute change.Passed masters in only 2 tries. Also last one to hand in test.90% fail so be in the 10% that make it.

I have a '93, '99 and an '02 NECH.
The '02 is the only one on my computer.

I have an '05 NEC - on comp. and hard copy.

IMHO, I'm a fool.
I really need to let the moths out of my wallet and at LEAST get the '05 NECH hardcopy....although the CD version would be a better buy.

Typically, I'll "search" the '02 NECH on the comp., then double check for the changes in Article in the '05. It's a collassal waste of time....but the NEC CD is not as easy to read/search as the NECH CD.

The moths are having a feast.
