I would agree,if all you had to do is open the door.I have inspected may hydro massage tubs, but never saw an access panel door that could be opened without having to use a tool to do so.

I have even seen some where a utility knife had to be used to remove grout form tile to access the opening. Needless to say it did not pass.

The truth is it is time that someone did something to correct this problem and I am glad they did. The next thing that needs to be done is make the pump motor more accessible.

I have seen many that are velcro .. I'm not sure it says what you want it to say..

I made a public comment to reject this, but I mad a typo in the proposal number, which the panel used to reject the comment (I work for Mike, as most of you know, and we submitted all of our changes together). I think the rejection was cheesey, as it is quite often that a typo occurs. Typically, the CMP will look at the substantiation and determine which proposal the comment was intended for:

Submitter: Mike Holt, Mike Holt Enterprises, Inc.
Comment on Proposal No: 17-186
Recommendation: This proposal should be rejected.
Substantiation: The substantiation for this major change is ?contractors
are tapping in on hallway, living room and/or bedroom circuits without
a violation.? Well...so what? Is it unsafe? Requirements for circuiting an
appliance should be driven by the load of the appliance in accordance with
Article 220. Also, what is a dedicated circuit? Does the proponent mean
?individual branch circuit?? And, why does the GFCI have to be readily
accessible? Are people going to get injured if the GFCI is beneath the tub in
an accessible, but not readily accessible, location? If the GFCI trips and the
occupant is forced to leave the tub to reset it, isn?t that a good thing?
Panel Meeting Action: Reject
Panel Statement: There is no Proposal 17-186, and the panel could not
determine the intended proposal.
