If I will have 12 level 2 (48A) EV chargers and I have an existing 225A, 240/120V 3phase 4 wire panel, am I correct that connecting the chargers on the specific panel will not be possible? I'm thinking if I should just add a main disconnect on that panel, then have a 240V single phase sub-panel for my chargers, which I'm also thinking not cost effective.

You can certainly connect single-phase 240v loads to that panel, but often you want to avoid the high-leg (208v to neutral). (There are multiple ways that type of service can be built by the power company, without knowing the specifics, you may not have the capacity for 12 changers.)

You need to involve an electrician who knows about 3-phase 4-wire services and which questions to ask the power company. (I'm assuming that this is supplied by the unitlty and not from a customer-owned transformer.)

You can connect the chargers to that panel. Just not twelve of them, short of some way of limiting how many are in use simultaneously.

12*48*240=138,240 va

Your 225 amp panel is only good for less than 94,000 va total
