I want to upgrade my 100A panel to 200A.

Questions:
1) Which of the following are the best residential Panel Brands: A) Square D-Homeline B) Eaton C) Siemens

2)Does anyone have a Material list of everything I'm going to need?

I appreciate any help or suggestion. I NEVER do residential...only commercial.

Thanks,

1. Look for the most economical total package. Several panels come with some breakers, like six to ten 1p and one or more 2p.

2. Here, the POCO provides the meter base and does everything on their side of the meter free. You'll need the service cable and associated hardware, panel and breakers, cable clamps, grounding electrodes and conductors.

You'll also need an electrical permit and inspection so the POCO will do the upgrading on their side when you're done.

I would ask why you want to do this. If you just need more CBs you can just add another panel. If you need more power, you need to get the POCO involved and maybe get a new meter.

Probably needs the two hundred amp service for the jacuzzi.

As for a material list, the only difference between commercial and residential really are NM connectors or pop ins of various sizes, and possibly tools to cut and repair drywall (eta: just saw the pics- scratch the drywall tools...)

Q 1: Because you're tying onto legacy wiring, I'd actually recommend GE because of the absence of a ground fault sensing trigger in their solution to the Grand Concept of AFCI. Now, maybe Boston doesn't have 210.12 enforced, I don't know. The GE AFCI also will permit a 15 A and 20 A multiwire to be supplied with two single poles and a handle tie because it is pure AFCI. Some on this Forum claim A), B) or C) have no ground fault detection but none have been able to document it. The GE AFCI is documented for its absence of ground fault detection.
