I have a question about a 200a service in a single family dwelling.

There will be a 200a underground service with a combination meter pan and 200a main breaker installed on the exterior. Is it possible to install two 200a (40) circuit Main breaker panels in the basement, making the feeder tap in a troth below the two panels? I could find nothing in the NEC to state that this is a violation. I would use MLO panels but the modular home company supplied one 200a Main breaker panel already.

Not a problem as far as I know.

As long as your calculated load does not exceed the MCB rating, put in as many 200A 40ckt panels as you like.

Save yourself a trough and buy one panel with feed thru lugs. It would look much better. A short nipple between the two panels is all you would see.

When I wired my son's house , I put in a 200 amp disconnect with " double lugs " . I fed two 200 amp panels , one of which was 30 feet away .
The local inspector had no problem with that set up .
