Hey all, just want to start by saying I am NOT an electrician. I am in the process of building a new home and I am pulling the underground service myself from the pole to the house. The run is 610’ from bottom of the pole to the corner of the house. I added 30’ for up the pole and rounded the length I need to 650’. Using the southwire voltage drop calc I believe i need (2) parellel runs of 600kcmil alum to give me a 200amp service at my new home. The hardest part for me is figuring out which wire is the one I need to order from the supply house. Hopefully I can pull both wires at the same time in a 4” sched-80 conduit. I have started my 24” deep trench but the ground has frozen over up in Maine so I am trying to get my ducks in a row for the next step once spring comes.
I would rather not go overhead high voltage as the utility co would own it and i would be the last to get power restored in the event of a tree falling on the wires. Plus its ugly.
Thanks guys.
