I don't have a copy of the 2014 NEC, but I've been told that any new switchboard installation 1000A and above at 480V must have 3rd Party inspections. Is this true?

It apparently is not referring to Ground Fault testing, which has been in effect for many, many years.

I took a quick look at the highlighted sections (i.e., revised that year) in the 2014 edition of article 408. I did not see any such requirement. That is all I have time to do right now.

Anyone else want to chime in?

Nope...no changes to 230.95 except for the "1000" where it says not exceeding and nothing in Article 408 as well. However, it is entirely possible that your local AHJ may have an amendment for this on a local level not that I can see in the NEC.

But I will give it another browse when I get back to my office.
