2017 NEC, Article 300.3(B)

Hello, we are routing two cords through an existing limited conduit system. The two 9C cords will route together through a common conduit and both cords originate/terminate within the same enclosures. Due to space limitations (raceway fill), we only had room to include a ground conductor in one of the cords.

Looking at 300.3(B), it appears that each cord must include a ground conductor, any thoughts on this would be helpful, thank you.

Cords are hard to pull in conduit, plus the jacket takes up space
And with limited exceptions a cord can be installed in a raceway for industrial locations
i need to look at 300.3 B

So a single grounding conductor in one of the cords is limiting your raceway fill?

I believe 400.17 allows them to be installed within a raceway of up to 50', our raceways are less than 50'.
So this is an industrial establishment? If so then you may be good at 50' or less. Have you factored in derating?
