2020 NEC T392.10 - TC extension cable in cable tray?

The field wants to run, pair 16AWG thermocouple extension cable in cable tray for around 25feet, and drop into a conduit. But the data sheet for the cable does not show it to be tray rated, such as ITC, PLTC, etc. I am thinking this cable will be rejected by the Inspectors, but want to check with the Forum before I tell them to run conduit for all TC extension wiring.
