Hello,
We are on the 2014 NEC and I will be hooking up a lift at a maintenance shop and the specs for the motor are as follows:

3HP
208-240v
FLA 12.9/14.4
Rpm 2880/3450
SFA 1.1
Max Amb °C 40

For the OCPD IAW 430.52
12.9amps x 300% = 38.7 amps
I plan on installing a 30amp breaker.

IAW Table 430.248 and 310.15(b) (16) 75° column

208V 3hp motor shows 18.7 amps for the FLC.
18.7 X 110% = 20.57amps (I BELIEVE IT WOULD FALL UNDER THE SHORT DUTY)

Using 12 awg as the motor feeders and branch circuit conductors.

The conduit run is approx 200ft and I plan on installing another 30amp breaker at/near the lift to serve as disco means.

The motor does not have overload protection, but looking at 430.33 since it is short duty an overload is not required.

I know this is a lot but again I am new to the commercial side of things and trying to figure things out on my own first before I ask for help/corrections.

Thanks.

Ok, I see what you're doing.
Your VD might be excessive at 7.1% if using the 18.7 number. 5.5% with the 14.4 amp at high speed.
#10 more suitable IMO
Ah your right! I haven't ran the numbers in a VD calc yet.
