We have a situation where we have a NEAM L14-20R receptacle (208v single phase with two phases, neutral, and ground)) that is serving a prewired office workstations. The 208V outlet is fed from a 2 pole, 20am breaker. The works station has a whip at the end with a plug connection to connect into the NEMA L14-20R outlet. The whip's plug is the proper configuration for the NEMA outlet.

The prewired workstation takes the 208v from te outlet and divides in into two circuits withn the workstation. This works in theory to generate two 120v circuits from 208v with a neutral. But is there anything i shoudl be looking at from a code standpoint?

Thanks.

Nope, it is a multi-wire branch circuit. The only thing would be the breaker having a handle tie if it were two single pole breakers.

If this is a cord and plug connected listed piece of equipment then it should be fine.

There is no generation from 208 to 120, that is what is available between each phase and neutral at any point in the system. Your cord an plug connected equipment is just an extension from that system.
