I am working on a project where all the existing breakers are 20 A or greater. We are replacing some exhaust fans and the MOCP of the new fans are rated at 15 A. The fans are 460V/3ph and 115V/1ph. The fans are provided with non-fused disconnects with thermal overloads. Is it acceptable to use the existing 20 A breakers or do they need to all be downsized to 15A?

IOf the MOCP is 15 amps, somewhere in the circuit you need 15 amp protection. Changing the breakers or changing the disconnects to fusible would work.
