I have been told you must use 20A branchcircuits in commercial applications. I can not find this in the code. I am running a dedicated circuit to a 7 amp freezer.

That is not an NEC rule.

I have heard that some areas have rules like that.

There can also be job specifications that require 12 AWG min.

According to the NEC this would not require a 20 amp circuit or even require a dedicated circuit.

Most specifications for commercial or industrial areas seem to require all 20A outlets. IMO, it is a good idea in any case. The extra cost is minimal and with todays power hungry equipment, you cannot have enough outlets.
