210.11(C)(1) refers us to 210.52(B).
From here we go to 210.52(A)(1,2,3) and (C)(1,2,3,4,5). Whew.
Here's the scenario:
(2) small app. circuts pulled to the Kitchen countertop only.
The dining room/nook is on a seperate 20amp dedicated circut.
In a discussion, the inspector would allow(and actually suggested this) that we could(and he would pass) pull a jumper out of said nook receptacle and install a GFCI w/p receptacle outside the sliding door.
According to the above link of articles, would you permit this??

I'm not an inspector, but this is not NEC approved. 210-52(b)(1)(99NEC) lists what rooms can be supplied by the 2+ small appliance circuits and an exterior receptacle is not included in the list.

My vote would be no.

Reasoning: since the nook is on its own 20A, you don't have 2 minimum required SA's - in effect 3 are "required" now for this particular implementation.

The "no other outlets" language applies to "two or more required".

Years ago we use to use that type of installation, the code has changed that from being permitted years ago to not being permitted today. 210.53(B)(1)&(2)

Many years ago that outside recept. was often pulled of the SA.Codes have changed and he cannot do it.Is no gray area here.

I agree with all of you.

It was surprising to hear this suggestion from the inspector and this makes me wonder what he might be passing for contractors who would actually do this sort of thing.
