Watching Mike Holt video and I'm a littler confused/ He's saying A1 deals with inside the equipment and the terminals and A2 is the wire. I don't read it that way.

This section could use some better wording. But the comment is correct.

A1 deals with making sure that the wire size is large enough for terminations. It considers that equipment with continuous loads expect a 125% upsizing factor on the conductor (even though the conductor's rating itself is already a continuous rating), and it uses the termination temperature limit. No ampacity adjustment or correction is required.

A2 deals with making sure that the wire size is large enough for the conditions of use. It does include ampacity adjustment and correction, starting at the full conductor insulation rating without regard to any termination temperature ratings. It does not include a 125% factor for continuous loads, as the wire's rating is already a continuous rating.
