Maybe I’m over thinking this. But if you have a 15A duplex receptacle with 20A feed through, can we technically load that receptacle over the maximum cord and plug connected max load of 12 amps--against T.210.21(B)2? *** I guess the question is: When they say 15A receptacle, are they technically saying it’s a 20A receptacle—seeing that the feed through qualifies it. Or should we base it on the rating (15A), and ignore the feed through (20A). Or do I need to go to sleep.

Ok, let me touch on something before my hour is up. If you have a 1500w heater that is cord and plug connected (Not fastened in place) to a 15A receptacle (with 20A feed through). Can we say that this is in violation of 210.21(B)2—seeing that max load permitted on 15A receptacle is 1440w? Seems obvious that it’s a branch circuit violation as it pertains to 210.23(A)1, if the circuit is 15 amps.
