The rules include such words as, "this circuit shall have no other outlets." Examples are the SABCs, the laundry receptacles, and bathroom receptacles. I don't know of any lighting circuits that are not allowed to be shared.

Here's one I'll give you for free: had a service call one time at a beauty shop where the owner said she was having problems with her breakers tripping a lot for her hair dryers (common type). After checking the panel and receps I asked to look at the hair dryers.
