Is there any reason that the requirement for one receptacle for each vehicle space in a garage, cannot be the ones that serve the garage door openers.

So you propose that an extension cord be used? I don't see how the garage door would be in the car space but you could try and argue it. IMO, it is not the intent

My point was it does not specify where the receptacle is located. It does not say "in" each vehicle space only that the number of receptacles match the number of vehicle spaces. I understand the intent, but if you group them together I think you comply with the wording.

I agree the wording is lacking. I also thought you were talking about using the garage door opener receptacles with no others. In reality the garage door opener is on for seconds and probably would not be an issue. The other reality is that most car chargers appear to be 240V so this is a ridiculous rule, IMO.

Also 210.52(G)(1) " ......in addition to those for specific equipment......."

I would think a garage door opener is specific equipment.
