210.52 Penninsula

Homeowner had a Peninsula built (96” x 30”) which comes out to 20 sq ft. I’m clear that that 2 outlets would be needed with regard to 1st 9 sq ft followed by 18 sq ft. Also clear that receptacle is needed at end of peninsula. My dilemma is that the overhang is 8.5 inches and end of peninsula with opening will have wine cooler with other side face cabinets.
Only place to realistically put receptacles would be on the overhang side but overhang is over the 6” A receptacle was already installed but not counting toward 210.52. This appears to be a kitchen peninsula design flaw. Any ideas where to put 2 receptacles? Thank you for input.

Imo, if the receptacle that is shown has an overhang to the left of 6" or less than it is compliant otherwise you need to install receptacles in the countertop itself. Those receptacles can e quite expensive.

How about attaching a surface-mounted box, like a shallow Wiremold box, to the bottom surface of the countertop?
