Just looking for some thoughts on this, if a dwelling unit is on a slab would you put GFCI protection on all receptacles because the floor level is at or below grade the same as a garage?

I would follow 210.8 (A) based upon receptacle outlet locations and not on the fact that the dwelling is built on a concrete slab. Depending upon which code cycle you follow, many locations within the dwelling require GFCI protection.

It is not required in a dwelling if it is on a slab however, in the 2020 any receptacles in a room in a basement will require gfci. So if you have a kitchen, bedroom, laundry, etc in a basement then all receptacles will req. gfci.
