210.8 vs 551.71

Would the 2017 requirements for 210.8(B)(4) require an RV 125v 30 amp receptacles or 50 amp 240v receptacle be GFCI protected.
551.71 does not exempt them specifically.
 
I don't know the answer. I think kwired started a thread on the same topic. I don't think there was a clear answer given there either.

This whole expanding of GFCI protection is turning out to not be so simple. I'm not convinced it's necessary.
 
Yeah, K wired started a thread on this very topic maybe a few weeks ago. My thoughts then was that since 551.71 leaves out receptacles larger than 30 amps, it is as another poster put permission by omission. Chapter 5 modifies chapters 1 through 4 via 90.3.

Also, if 551.71 was made to duplicate 210.8 exactly, it would say see section 210.8.
