In the 2003 NEC Section 220.3(B)(5) states that outlets for heavy-duty lampholders shall be computed at a minimum of 600 VA.

I never really felt like this was referring to lighting.

Does anyone have some ideas or examples of what the NEC is actually referring to here?

thanks in advance

HI I beleive they are talking about lighting outlets here. But not outlets you would count on your general illumination calculation. I believe they are talking about any type of heavy duty lampholder such as a metal halide fixture. Or any other type of fixture with a mogul base.
