It appears that 220.53 uses nameplate ratings, 220.55 dwelling units with “ individually” rated cooking units? I don’t see any qualifications prohibiting 220.55 for dwelling unitsRead 220.53 parent text which says its demand shall not apply to the following items 220.53(1-5)
220.53(1) is household electric cooking equipment fastened in place
If you’re looking to calculate the service load for electric ranges you use 220.55
220.53 does not apply
I never said 220.55 was prohibited for dwelling unit range calculations, 220.55 is specifically for calculating the service load for dwelling unit cooking equipment, what I did say is you shall not apply the 220.53 75% demand to dwelling unit fastened in place electric cooking equipment , read the last sentence of the 220.53 parent text it says the 75% demand shall not apply to the following which are 220.53(1-5)It appears that 220.53 uses nameplate ratings, 220.55 dwelling units with “ individually” rated cooking units? The electric ranges can’t be one of the 4 appliances you include to apply rhe 220.53 75% demand factor to ,
You either use the total nameplate rating, or calculate the cooking equipment min service load using 220.55
No worries, how many KW is each range ? 8 ranges not over 12Kw is only a service demand of 23kw, if they are over 12Kw it’s a 5% increase for every KW or major fraction there of a KW over 12Copy that, misread your reply.
