Would 225 A(6), permit a secondary feed to a detached structure from a UPS, so that there could be a UPS and non-UPS panel in the detached structure? The structure is currently fed from a 60 amp breaker in 100 amp critical load panel. There is an air conditioning unit in the detached structure which should not be run off the UPS.

I personally think a load shed device would be a much better and safer setup, but this idea was presented to me and I'm not sure if I have the justification to reject it on a code basis.

If not (6), then (4). 2020 updated the definition of optional standby systems to include stored energy, although I would argue that such was implicitly included before that.

We are still on the 2017, but as you said that is implicitly implied

Thank you that is very helpful information. Still the planning stages, but sounds like this is viable option. Would probably have to go to a 3R panel due to limited space. It appears based on what you said that 225.34(B) would allow having an additional disconnect outside that was not grouped.
